At the end of each month, I like to stop, take a mindful look at the past few weeks, and remember the experiences that brought me joy. It is my way of living more mindfully and acknowledging the things I am grateful for.

It’s easy to get bored and become uninspired when you follow the same schedule and the same routine over and over again. There’s nothing new and exciting in going the same places, seeing the same people everyday, and doing the same things. You can start feeling not only uninspired, but also tired and unhappy, and that might even affect your overall health.

Listening to podcasts is a free and amazing way to invest in yourself, to get inspired, entertained, and motivated. Podcasts are my new favorite thing and lately I’ve been binge listening to several inspiring podcasts during my commute in the morning. They make my ride interesting and enjoyable, and they set the mood for a positive and productive day. It is the warm and inviting place that makes us feel like… well, home. Making a home doesn’t require expensive furniture or color coordinated bookshelves because it is always the special things and the people that totally transform a house.

There is loads of research to suggest that having healthy morning habits leads to more productive days and overall well-being. Isn’t it amazing that we have the power to create our days the way we want them to be? It is how we design our morning – the positive energy and the discipline – that sets the tone for a productive and positive day.

I truly believe that positive emotions shape not only our social relationships with others and our psychological growth but also our health and our everyday life in general. A few days ago I came across a video that was so captivating that I went back and watched it several times, again and again. The speaker in the video is the famous positive psychologist Shawn Achor, the author of The Happiness Advantage, and he delivers lectures on how to increase happiness and meaning to his students at Harvard. He is brilliant, charming, funny and so right!
