I’m going to start this post by saying: Yes, I love, love, love December!”
I’ve been busy being happy! I’ve been busy celebrating sunshine! I’ve been busy enjoying my time with my family. My parents are here visiting us for several months and I am super excited that we will get to spend the winter holidays (and not only) together.
I know I’ve been absent here, but I just didn’t want to worry about writing and posting. I don’t want the added pressure of having to meet standards I am setting for myself because that involves work and, for me, time alone for writing, away from the beauty of this time of the year. Right now, I don’t want to spend any time alone.
I just want to savor our everyday life together, to pay attention to and anticipate my parents’ needs, and to help them get into a routine. I need this time to savor the upcoming holidays and the spirit of giving – that something in the air, and the Christmas carols everywhere. I just want to relax, enjoy the time and take part in the traditions that give me a sense of peace and joy, and that are so important for me and my family. I want to feel like a child again.
Instead of spending money on a fancy floral centerpiece, I want to take the time to make it myself using some springs of herbs, pine cones, pine branches and some bright ornaments. I want to bake festive holiday treats and share them with my neighbors and friends. I want to write and send Christmas cards to all my friends and relatives. I want to secretly pack the special gifts I have for the loved ones and then tuck them away until Christmas.
In order to fully appreciate the year that’s coming to an end, I already started reflecting on what I’ve accomplished throughout the year and I also started thinking about how to make 2016 a better year.
Look ahead to the new year and think about your goals for 2016. Ring in the new year with a sense of excitement, happiness and gratitude. The best is yet to come!
May this Christmas bring joy and love to your heart and soul, and may you find more smiles on your face in the new year than ever before!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and to your loved ones!
