“Summer afternoon—summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language.”
― Henry James
It’s been awhile since I last wrote about or expressed my gratitude, and today I kind of feel like I miss it. There may be cold, and snow, and blizzard almost everywhere, but I want to send you some sunshine and warm your souls with some pictures, and at the same time, to acknowledge and remind myself, again and again, how lucky I am to be a part of this beautiful paradise I live in.
Because the days are longer now, my hubby and I decided to go jogging as soon as he gets home from work, even only for half an hour. Sometimes I take my bike, or sometimes we just walk. I didn’t even realize how much I was missing it until I started doing it. I know that keeping my body fit is beneficial for my health, but these walks are much more than that. The beauty of those fleeting moments is enough to clear my mind and calm me down, and it has an almost therapeutic effect. I feel like any worries melt away and I feel ashamed for any faultfinding, ungrateful, selfish or air-headed thought I might have had.
These evenings walks awaken my senses, and balance my perception. It is like I see my neighborhood for the first time. It is a sense of wonder for every sunset I witness, with different colors every evening going from bright yellow to tangerine shades of purple, then finally going bluer and bluer. It is such a treat! It all happens in 5 or 10 minutes, and I usually stop and watch as if it were for the first time, every time, and I wonder how come I didn’t notice that sooner, how come I didn’t find the time to do it? How many times have I passed by so many sunsets without noticing them? I feel so beyond-blessed and grateful for being able to enjoy the beauty of each sunset, the stillness and tranquility of the nature, and the clean and fresh smell of the earth, grass, wet mud, and water. I just love my always-summer afternoons!
I hope these pictures shed some sunshine and happiness to your day. 🙂
