Many adults have forgotten about the importance, or just don’t have the time for a nap anymore. That’s why for Stress Awareness Day on November 4th, I want to encourage everyone to take a moment for themselves and take a short, but very effective rest.
There are countless benefits to napping – day to day as well as on your long term health.
According to the National Sleep Foundation, adults in the United States are more sleep deprived than ever before. Even though a nap might not be able to make up for a night of bad sleep, a quick nap (no longer than 30 minutes) can refresh your level of alertness and increase your productivity much better than things like coffee and energy drinks. There are so many benefits to a good nap which tie in directly with stress. While napping can relax you, it can also reduce fatigue and improve your mood which reduces your levels of stress. A short nap can do wonders: it increases your resilience and energy, improves willpower, and boosts your creativity. It’s a powerful and efficient way to feel refreshed and energized.
No day is so bad it can’t be fixed with a nap.

And now, if you’ll excuse me, I am going to take a nap.
